After reading a lot of self development and business books, I was looking for something that was more of a light read. This came in the form of “Brain Rules” by John Medina. The book details into the scientific reasons of how and why the brain works the way it does. I’m pretty into science, but there are many things in that area that I just can’t wrap my head around. John does a fantastic job of making this complex scientific information easy to understand. One of the most interesting facts for me from this book was the fact that we can get hungry from thinking! Our brain uses up more energy than our quad muscles. There are tonnes of these little fun facts throughout the book. If you’re into how the brain works in any way, I highly recommend this book.

It was in the stars. I had to shoot that day. I had a shoot planned, but it got cancelled last minute. Seeing the beautiful sun out, I had to make something of out so I called out my friend Randy to help me with the second part of my out of focus project. I felt I really pushed the concept further this time and got some good shots out of it.

I'm doing a two part short photo series where the portraits that are taken will take the focus away from the face and onto something else in order to tell an alternative story. The photos from this first shoot took place in my friend Layhe's garage and I decided to put the focus on the taping of the stick rather than the face. I'm planning to push the next shoot for this series even further with potentially having completely out of focus photos.
