fashion shoot

I dont consider myself a fashion photographer by a long shot, but when my hair stylist/make-up artist friend Andrew Masian approached me about doing a fashion shoot for his portfolio, I was happy to help. He brought on his friends Douglas Alfaro (stylist) and Emmaline Zien (model) who are both professionals in their own fields. We shot for 6 hrs, starting at Andrew's place and finishing with headshots on a rooftop terrance. It was a great experience working with a professional team who share a similar passion for their respective fields, and although I an not a fashion photographer; this shoot definitely helped me out with my posing and composition for the next time I'm out working with a bride!

porteau cove 2

A BBQ at Porteau Cove has become somewhat of an annual event with the guys. It's just nice to relax and take it easy. Porteau Cove is halfway between Vancouver and Squamish so the area is more quiet and you're pretty much guaranteed a spot upon arrival.

As usual, I tried to make some kind of Japadog inspired burger. This time I had gluten free buns with bison patties, seaweed, Japanese mayonnaise, mushrooms, avocados all topped with some teriyaki sauce. Still missing those bonito flakes though!

We were hoping to take pictures of the stars after since Porteau Cove is the best place to do this relative to the distance from the city. Being a cloud covered sky we didnt have much luck, but I still felt that I got some cool shots during the day; especially during the sunset. Also, Layhe has his new car there and wanted me to get some shots for him as well. Check out the pictures below!

elliott slinn

Elliott is one of the coolest people I know. He's a writer who's words speaks to the soul, and connects with the heart. I recently had the pleasure of spending an afternoon with him in which we grabbed some portraits over a conversation. He chose Chinatown as the location as he believed it reflected his character, so we started with a quick brunch and then headed out for a walk. I love how organically these photos were created as nothing was really planned and everything just flowed. Here are the images that followed.
