A rainy day isn’t typically anyones idea for the ideal engagement shoot weather; but when they cherry blossoms were this beautiful, the opportunity was hard to pass up. I worked with Mallory and Mark for a quick engagement session in the rain with the cherry blossoms before they disappeared as we transitioned into spring. We had a great time with the shoot as we worked quickly without getting too wet! Looking forward to the second part of their engagement shoot!
amy's big day
Amy had joked with her husband, Mike that if he was planning a surprise birthday for her that he should get her sister, Anita to do it; and so over the course of the next month, that’s exactly what happened. They needed a venue big enough to host the 50+ guests that were expected to attend, so Mike, being a carpenter, flipped his wood shop inside out to provide a space which became Anita’s canvas to style the event. Some of the decor such as the candle holders were actually put together by Anita, while all the hanging and draping was done by Mike. The balloons are from Confetti & Co, which is actually owned by Amy herself. They had secretly placed an order for the balloons so Amy had actually made the balloons for herself!
gastown + chinatown engagement - michelle & byron
For this shoot I tried out a bunch of new things that I normally wouldnt do. I felt that Gastown and Chinatown offers a unique look with the architecture and character of the places so I tried to really play into that and to have more prominent backgrounds in these photos. Michelle and Byron were great to work with that day as I thought it was rather cold, but they were champs the entire time. Look forward to shooting their wedding in May!
