Thoughts on a Photo: Seventeen

bowen island wedding

This ceremony was one of my favourites in terms of atmosphere. It took place in the backyard of the couples family property on Bowen Island, which as you can see is quite a picturesque location. I loved the fact that there wasn’t really any formal seating and it was more of an everybody, gather around kind of vibe. It was also great that the couple had a chuppah to stand under so despite the glaring sun, they were in the shade so the light was always flattering on them.

I think I shot this entire ceremony sitting from this one spot and just alternating my lenses and zoom range. It was really hard to move around as it was quite packed and where were actually on a steep hill. At the time, I shot with my cameras clipped onto my waist and didn’t realise one of the locks wasn’t on, so when I adjusted my position one of my cameras unclipped and partially rolled down the hill. Luckily, I managed to lunge over and catch it in time!

This photo was taken on Bowen Island, BC.
