book review: one good deed

I recently read "One Good Deed" by Erin Mchugh, and I'm gonna say, it was just alright. Perhaps this was because I went in with an expectation that it was going to be more of a to do list for the reader; but instead it turned out to be a journal. In this book, Erin documents her daily good deed throughout the year along with a little story of the day. Some of her good deeds were truly impressive, things that I'm not sure if I would have done myself. With that being said however, other deeds, I wouldnt really count as a good deed, such as smiling at strangers, and buying tomatoes from the farmers market. More of choices, manners, and habits if you ask me. Overall, I will say the book was alright, as it was a very light read, both in the sense of reading difficulty and in making the reader thing.

capilano salmon hatchery

Its a place that brings back childhood memories. Both Anita and I havent been to the Capilano Salmon Hatchery in years. Despite the rainy weather we walked around and explored the area for a couple of hours. I'm not sure if the place has changed a lot since we were little, but it certainly looks like it has. Maybe it just goes down to what you pay attention to as a child and what you pay attention to as an adult. The conversations that we had were very inspiring, as was the location. I'm definitely going to have to go back there for a shoot some time!

Kitsilano family photos

On one of the first nice days this spring, I headed to Kits Beach to take some photos of my friend Carley, her daughter Sayeh, and her sister Steph. This shoot had been nearly a year in the making and I'm so glad we finally got it done. As mentioned, it was a gorgeous day out, however it was quite windy at the beach, making it rather chilly. One of the challenges then was to get this shoot wrapped up quickly, but not to rush as that can effect the mood of the shoot; which would show up in the photos. The second challenge was the wind. Being just about smack in the middle of the day I had to make sure the angles were good for lighting, but also make sure that the wind was blowing in a direction that wouldnt mess up everyones hair. Here are some favourites.
